Four Leagues One Dream!

Northern Alberta Interlock

The Northern Alberta Interlock was initiated by the the 1660 Hockey League, North Central Minor Hockey, Sturgeon Pembina Hockey League and the North Eastern Alberta Hockey League. They believe that with closer co-operation, reduce travel, consistency in regulations and standardize tiering are in the best interest of all minor hockey players in Alberta, regardless of the location of their home league or geographical location in Alberta.

For the 2016-2017 season the PeeWee, Bantam, and Midget tier 1 teams will be fortunate enough to play in a full interlock format. The full interlock format is where participating teams in that tier have all league play, playoffs, and regulations under the Northern Alberta Interlock Model. Participating teams do not return to their home league. The remaining teams within the four leagues will play some interlock games with teams throughout the four leagues.  The goals of the Northern Alberta Interlock Committee is to:

  • For children of all levels to be able to enjoy the game of hockey
  • Fair play for all teams in all leagues
  • Reduced travel times for all families involved
  • Increased competitiveness at all levels
  • Work towards standardized regulations and tiers across Alberta, which leads to teams have a better experience at tournaments where they know that they will be tiered properly
  • To grow the game of hockey and keep it affordable
