Everything you need to get started for 2017/18 is under "Associations" tab

Aug. 22, 2017

The 1660 Hockey League and the Sturgeon Pembina Minor Hockey League welcome you to a new 2017-18 Northern Alberta Interlock year. The North Central Minor Hockey Association ceased operation this summer and Bashaw, Battle River, Maskwacis, Ponoka, Thunderstars and Viking remained from last year and have paid their bonds to join the Northern Alberta Interlock.

With the hockey season right around the corner, we are writing to inform you of a few things as we get the season started. We have been working diligently all summer to make improvements to the NAI as per your feedback from the survey at the end of last year; and we have made some changes. This year you will see an expanded staff in order to help better meet your needs. The most significant change you will likely notice is that we are implementing regions for play within tiers to have better control of our travel with the result of having teams travel less within a division.

During the tiering process, teams will be asked to use the tiering request form. This form needs to be filled out by everyone who wants to move from one tier to another, explaining your reasons for the request. There will also be a form for teams to submit their requests for blackout dates so our scheduler can try his best to honor those requests to keep a weekend free for your team.  For those willing to make a travel committment weekend to any of our outskirts associations (play two games in two towns on the same weekend with a stay in a hotel - ie - Jasper / Hinton trip or Slave Lake / Athabasca trip or Ponoka / Bashaw trip or any other example) we would also like to know about it ahead of time. Perhaps it would work in the beginning of the season as an opportunity for team bonding.  Of course this depends on the team tiering. Please indicate your willingness to do this when you submit your ice to schedule@nainterlock.com.

We will explain these things and others, including what we are doing for playoffs, at the Registration Meeting Saturday September 9th at 11 AM in Stony Plain at the Family Connection Center, 5600-50th Street. Remember each association is required to have a representative at this meeting and you must pay your registration fees at this meeting ($200 per team).

Note that Novice is listed in the NAI website however, we will be governing Novice under our own banners of 1660 and SPHL.  Yes, please do include them in your registration. We are putting everything in one place this year for more consistincy and less confusion.

Prior to this meeting, please ensure you go to the NAI website and submit these forms that are also listed under the Association Tab. We need you to fill out the Association Contact FormCriminal Record Checks Team Registration Form and Ice Template.  These forms are expected to be filled out and completed by 23:59 on September 9th in order for our tiering and scheduling team to start working on getting the pre-season built for you. The regulations posted on the NAInterlock website under Information will help you to know what requirements are necessary for the ice slots; pay attention to section 6.

If you have any problems filling out or submitting these forms, please do not hesitate to contact myself karen@nainterlock.com or one of the executive.

As always, if you are no longer the person who needs to receive this email, please forward it on to who is and let us know so we can update our records. Thank you.
